ScanKey for iOS Setup

ScanKey is an application available for download in the Apple app store. Once set up, this app integrates with the existing keyboard on your device and utilizes your device’s camera to act as a scan tool. The user-friendly nature of this application has made it a key component of our MOBILETrak set up for customers looking to use these types of devices.
INTRODUCTION
To Locate the ScanKey Application,
Simply open the Apple app store on your device and type in ScanKey. You will then want to install it.
APPROPRIATE DEVICE SETTINGS
Getting ScanKey fully integrated with your device’s keyboard and camera will require some additional set up steps.
Navigate to your device’s settings
Open your General Settings
Click into Keyboard
Open Keyboards
Add New Keyboard
Select ScanKey
Open ScanKey Settings
Allow Full Access
This setting specifically is what allows ScanKey to integrate fully with your device.
Auto-Return
In the scan key app, you will want to turn the Auto-Return setting on. This will make it so you will be returned back to MOBILETrak after using your device to make a scan.
Now that the settings are properly set, let’s take a look at a quick demonstration of using ScanKey inside MOBILETrak.
This is an example of an item search in the Item Inquiry module.
SCANNING IN MOBILETrak
Navigate to Item Inquiry
Or any other screen with an input field
Tap and Hold the Globe Icon
This will open your Keyboard Options
Select ScanKey
The ScanKey Keyboard will Open
Press the button that looks like a 1D barcode. This will take you to a new screen and your camera will then be used to scan.
Your Camera will Open and you will make your scan
You will hear a beep or feel a vibration when the scan is initiated. You will see a green box appear around your QR code and the field at the top will validate the contents of your QR code. After your scan, you will be automatically returned back to the MOBILETrak screen, utilizing the ‘Auto-Return’ setting noted above.
Success
Returning to MOBILETrak, your search field will populate with the contents of the QR code. We see our scan was a success and MOBILETrak is showing the part we scanned.
